Many users will always operate in their own time zone and may never need to
use the time zone functionality. However, some
users will need to share information by
accessing it from different time zones. For
example, a user in one time zone may need to
enter appointments for a user in another time
zone. Or a conference call may be
scheduled for users in different time zones and
any reminders need to be fired off in each time
zone 30 minutes before the call. Or a user
visiting a subsidiary office in another time
zone may wish to log on and use the application
as though they were 'back home'. Time Zone
functionality takes care of all these scenarios.
Normally when you view the list of diaries they
will be displayed using your current time zone.
i.e. the normal time zone in which you work.
However, some diaries may be in different time
zones and you can configure these diaries for
the different time zones. Only a user with Diary
Administration capability can configure time zones for
diaries. This feature is useful if you need to
enter appointments into diaries which are in
different time zones. It ensures that, no matter
where you are in the world, the appointment will
always appear at the correct time. e.g. An 0900
appointment will appear as 0900 when viewed from
Tokyo or from New York.
The current time zone is always displayed in the
Window title bar. |
